| How to SSH to ce.uml.edu with a Mac
This tutorial will help you login to our Unix server with SSH from an Apple
computer.
- First, you need to click on the icon of the hard drive
on your desktop
- Then click on the applications folder then open the
Utilities folder and open
a terminal window
- Next go to the menu at the top of the screen and
select shell and click on
New Remote Connection

The Connect to server box will open and look something like the picture
below.
Next highlight “Secure Shell (ssh)” in the left pane under the Service
title.

Then with the Secure Shell (ssh) highlighted in the left pane,
you need to click on the “+” sign under the right pane where it says
“Server”.
The following pop up box will be displayed. Enter “ce.uml.edu” without
the quotes and click ok.

Next you need to highlight by clicking once on the “ce.uml.edu” in
the right pane.
You will notice the bottom of the screen will change. You need to enter
your unix account username in the box where it says “User:” Then click
connect.

A terminal window will pop up and ask you if you want to continue.
You will need to type “yes.”

The terminal window will display our authorization policy and look like the
picture below. The last step is to enter you unix password and press
enter. If this is your first time logging in this semester, you
will be prompted to enter a new password. This is a security feature. Enter the
new password and then verify it.

You will be brought to a prompt on the Unix server.
